What should we ask the candidates for Board of Directors?

Cooperatively Yours is preparing a short questionnaire for this year’s candidates to the Board of Directors. Not all cooperators are able to attend the meet the candidates forum that will be held shortly before the annual meeting. And we thought that asking candidates to go on record about some of the challenges facing our coop would help clarify the choice for voters.

If you have any questions you suggest asking, please add them below in the comments, or email hello@cooperativelyyours.org.

  1. Do you see any room in the Coop’s budget to reduce operating expenses? If so, what would you cut?

  2. Do you have any ideas about making the management company more “user friendly” and particularly more *responsive* to us (the people who happen to pay their salaries)? This is my biggest frustration about East River; the way everything seems to be run by fiat and we’re the last to know (and we’re virtually powerless to effect change).

  3. Cooperators should elect a new board with ballots held and counted by a neutral party before any new expenses are undertaken.
